Massage Therapy

When massaging, body tissue is manipulated using a variety of techniques, such as stroking and kneading (e.g. Swedish massage) or applying pressure to specific points (as used in neuromuscular massage, Shiatsu and acupressure). These techniques are claimed to help to promote wellness and reduce stress, and to lower pain associated with illnesses related to the musculoskeletal, nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems of the body. Massage therapy is believed to especially help people with back injuries, muscle tenderness, or fibromyalgia, or newborn babies with low-birth-weight, people suffering from asthma or anxiety and stress.
