Chiropractic

The main method of healing in chiropractic is through manipulating the spine. Chiropractic is based on the belief that the proper alignment of the spine ensures the proper functioning of the nervous system both of which necessary to maintain or restore health.

Chiropractic has been shown to be helpful in treating lower back pain and some forms of headaches. Improperly performed, however, chiropractic can lead to serious complications, such as damage to nerve roots or to the end of the spine (Cauda Equina Syndrome). Blockage of the blood supply to the brain can also occur by damage to the arteries leading to the brain. Although these events are rare, they ought to be considered. Other less serious side effects may include temporary headache and fatigue or local discomfort.
