What is Asthma?

Asthma is a relatively common, chronic and potentially debilitating disease. It is caused by swollen and inflamed airways that tend to constrict suddenly and violently.

While most asthma attacks are characterised by attacks of shortness of breath and wheezing, some asthma attacks are more severe and can be life-threatening, even fatal.
